New online driver license reinstatement service responsible for 36% drop in calls to DOL by folks wanting to know how to get their license back

In August, we reported the launch of a new DOL online service offering customers an easy way to get personalized help to reinstate their driver license. The application gives suspended drivers around-the-clock access to the status of their license and the information needed to fulfill the requirements of a license suspension and reinstating their license online.

By October, calls to the DOL Customer Service Center about driver license reinstatements dropped by 36 percent. Not only does this demonstrate that lots of suspended drivers are taking advantage of this new self-service option, it also allows our customer service representatives to help other folks with driver license questions more quickly.

  1. The website is great, but the information never seems to get updated. And to get more information you end up sitting on hold for 45 minutes and the service rep knows little more than is shown on the website. It does not appear to take 7-10 days for new information to appear.

  2. DOL Blog says:

    Hey there, Driver in Spokane,
The Driver License Reinstatement System on the DOL website is a great tool for folks to use to see their status in our system on a daily basis. However, one thing to keep in mind when looking at this system is that in many jurisdictions the events and processes that result in updates to this system are manual and can take a while to reach us. This is why it can take several days for a payment made to a local court to be reflected on the Driver License Reinstatement system.

If all you need to do to get your license reinstated is to pay fees, why do we have to go to an office? We should be able to do pay the fee and get the license reinstated. Who ever developed this new system should be able to create a table to link to requirements for each reinstatement requirement, and if all you need to do is pay fees, it should allow you to do so ONLINE. Going to the office for this would reduce more traffic to the office.

Very slick sounding system, anything to help with the maze of info needed to reinstate a suspended license and take advantage of technology is a great step forward.

  5. Driver License Reinstatement System is a very nice web services which can reduce the work load of many customer support reps and traffic to the local DMV offices, but this system performance is not matching to the users expectations, hope they will improve the performance and reduce the time duration of update this site will take.
