If you typically use a standard driver license/ID to get through airport security, you have a bit more time to get something else.
The REAL ID Act goes into effect on May 3, 2023. From that date forward, standard Washington driver’s licenses and IDs will no longer be valid for domestic air travel.
REAL ID enforcement is delayed until May 3, 2023. This means you have more time to make sure your ID will allow you to fly and access federal facilities.
You won’t need REAL ID-compliant identification until Oct. 1, 2021. Renew your standard license or ID online now and upgrade to an enhanced version later.
